Well, the vent is bent pretty good too, may have been dropped.

Thanks Scott

D Fire

If I was to put something wet out to dry here. It would freeze.

Once you get the thread of your jack working. just hit it a bit with the PB and work it back and forth, don't use to much force. It it seems like it just wont budge heat the nut up a bit. If you have an oxy/acetylene torch that would be ideal. You don't have one? Gee I thought everyone has one. I just used mine about an hour ago. If yours has gone missing or is out for repairs do you have one of those little torch things for the top of a propane bottle? Or an antique low torch? Well, just heat it up the best you can. No need to melt it down. Try the screw a little but not much until after it cools. Metal expands in all directions but when against the screw it can't. Then when metal cools it contracts in all directions. Away from the screw. I have done this many times.

To keep it from rusting up again. good old grease. I can't think of any other way. messy yes but it works

Randy

Oh, I was using my torch to make a part for a 220E kerosene conversion. It is now burning happily away on kerosene. Photos to follow.

randy...I got mine working die to the wonders of PB Blaster. The second one is soaking now...it wasn't as rusted, but more corroded..which I know will come off with 'The Works' toilet cleaner.

PB works pretty well at taking off rust, too. But it also removes paint

I was thinking of just greasing them after I got them painted. Just didn't know if there was something better.

If all goes well, I'm going to have some nice looking jacks for the vintage rallies I've signed up for!

HERE IT IS.....WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR.

haven't you?

Image

A 1955 220E burning kerosene. I use a #6 jet that I found in a 220D and a home brew priming cup made from a 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser cartridge and an end cap for 1 inch copper pipe.

that 6.5x55 Mauser really fits the bill. I just soldered it on. I don't think I could braze it. I am not worried about the solder melting as I have seen match sticks lay in the bottom of the cage for many hours and not char.

Dragonfire, I don't think you should have to carry four stabilizers. Using the front jack and one at each rear corner should firm things up just fine.

I'm hanging on to all four anyway...the best ones are under the big trailer now, I have the 2 worst ones here. One has been cleaned and primed..the other won't budge and is outside with pb blaster on it. I'll fix these 2, and when I sell the big trailer I'll fix those, and use which ever works best.

I might even do 2 different color treatments on them, just for kicks. I figure if I've got them I might as well fix them up and make them look good, and figure out what I need later!

7.62x54r, now you are talking. I need to crank up one of my old computers and get the data off it about some loads I worked up for it one winter. No pressure barrel mind you, just keeping an eye on the cases and don't get nuts

Strangest one I have is an Egyptian 8 mm semi auto.

:D

Everybody on here talks of the PB Blaster. I know not of this product. I am stupified by this. I use seafoam and Prolong. Am I so two weeks ago or what?

I know not of these guns you speak of.

But I know the pb blaster. And you should too! It removes rust well, and it's like WD40 on steroids. Great stuff. I just need it to work on the second jack stand. Or else I'll have to steal the torch from work again!!

PB Blaster is reputed to be the best penetrating fluid one can buy. But. I have heard it said that a 50/50 mix of acetone and Auto Transmission oil is much better. But has a short shelf life.
