I might try to light it up tomorrow. Need to get a propane torch and make a mantel from a 111, which I happen to have. When in heater mode that is said to put out 3000 BTUs It should put out a good amount of light. And with a reflector. I can put that on my 1940 International M tractor and go courting with it at night.

Hey Kzhorse. Good looking kero burnner there. I been thinking about extending that stub on a 200A also and use an AGM vent from a Sears AGM. It is slotted like a 242 so I could put it on with the handle already in the burner frame. Like a 242.

Congrats Randy! you're really finding some really different stuff! I gotta get out of the shop and make an effort. Nothing wrong with your own sub group.....it's an easy club to manage! Doug

I was very surprised that I found something like that. And to think I almost passed that sale up as the add did not sound very promising. I mostly went as there was hand tools and a tool box listed. None of which I got. I went back today to look for the thing a ma bob to light it with but didn't find it. But the guy that runs the sales gave me a box of preformed mantles. The are made in England and rather small. I have only looked in the one box that was opened and that mantle is busted. I am probably going to take off next week for a bit of a jaunt south. When I get back will look further into them and then see if anybody wants them. They where free to me so I won't charge more than $100 each.

there ya go Dragonfire....just what you want!

I spent most of the day hauling stuff up and downstairs, no easy task on my staircase, taking good photos for my virtual museum. I set up a white background. Working on putting them up in a photobucket account. I need to scrounge up all the before pics though before it's all done. At least I'll have a complete photographic record of them all. Doug

Doug, That sounds like a great project. Get all your stuff in one place so people the world over can see it.

Randy....your 3H is next in the lineup....just checked it out a bit today...a seam broken loose, lid hinge has a bend so don't know if I can punch the rod, some dents, plenty of rust and crud....tank is now cleaned out, not too bad...hope the gennie is a runner. I got a cord of wood today to heat the shop with, now all I need is the time to do it. I forgot to take pics of the 3H...better go do that. Doug

that's a beautiful Gold Bond...wow. I won't be able to afford that! Let's see...tow vehicle or Gold Bond lantern...hmm...Maybe I'll put a gold stripe down the side of my tv!

That actually looks to be the real thing...the ventolator does not perfectly match the color of the fount. Maybe everyone will get busy with Presidents Day and forget about it and I can get it!

Like the Japanese know about Presidents Day!

Ok, I'll settle for one gold jackstand. That's all I've got right now. And a gold bond jug. Poor man's gold bond!

Doug, thanks for the update. I figured if the case was to bad you could use that tank on the other 3H or what ever it was you have that you put a latter tank on to get it running. I know it is now in a better home than mine.

I took my Tilley out to the shop today. I modified a Coleman 1111 mantel for it and built a preheat cup. I made the cup from a 1 inch copper pipe cap and a 8mm Mauser cartridge. This time I used some lead free solder and paste. I did a much better job of it this time. After cutting the head and neck from the cartridge it fit real close to the Tilley vaporizer. Put kerosene in the font and alcohol in the cup and lit it up. Let it warm for a few minutes. Tilleys need 2-4 minutes. Turned on the kero and it worked. BUT it leaks very very bad from around the valve stem. Luckily it is not CF. Had to shut it down after a few minutes as kero was running off the work bench. My metal one for welding and stuff. I am now getting ready to go camping Tuesday for 5-7 days so I will not be able to get back to it for a while. The packing nut is already pretty tight. At least was not able to turn it more with my fingers.

See ya around

Randy

Randy your post is unacceptable. You fire up a Tilly that almost turns into a fireball and you post no pictures!

:(  :pictures: please!
