Atlantis, Atlantis ------ hmmmm, just not the right word. Hmmmm, I am trying to think of a place name that can describe it. Anybody here been to Afghanistan?

I havent either but I have read alot about it and seen alot of pictures and I would say this flea market is much closer to Afghanistan than Atlantis.

They also have a really cool little go cart track for the little ones while you are at the boot fair. Just be sure to have gps location device imbeded under the skin if abducted.
or maybe handgun training? You just cant be to safe these days.

I have an idea. Just let me go to the bootfair for you. Doug, Lee ( they live close to me) and I will go. It will be like a misson. A Coleman mission to the wild west bootfair. We will take lots of pictures and show you all what we get. And we will show you are scars. It will be our sacrifice to all Coleman Keepers. Our Duty! 8)

How about Eldorado of flea markets? Not sure it really exists, but it it does, someone will try to kill you for finding it. Just saying.

I'd imagine that many of the stoves get bought up for all those people living out in the wilds that are doing up their own special type of "cooking". I won't do battle with some tweaker for a stove, just suggest that the 413G is a more suitable model for their needs and that the old ones aren't as user friendly. Doug

Went to the local DAV store today and found a Coleman 2 burner stove today (looks like a 425) for $9.75.
Think i'll go back Saturday and buy it on their "Customer Appreciation Day" 20% off.

Are you ready for some Tilley porn?

I tinkered just a tiny bit on my Tilley. got it so I can light it without a whole of fuel escaping.

Image

I made a mantel from an old Coleman 1111 mantel. On this lantern the generator goes up through the middle of the mantel into the ....... well top part. Then the gas comes down to holes spaced all around the generator. Untie the bottom of the 1111, turn it inside out and tie it on with a bit of small copper wire, then take take the normal top part up and tie it to the grove above the outlets.

I still have a bit of a leak around the control knob. You can see a bit of blue paper towel under the knob.

Image

Looking into the reflector.

Image

Close up of the heater cup I made from a 1 inch copper pipe cap and an 8mm Mauser cartridge, the 8mm was cut off below the shoulder and it fits the generator very well. Of course the base was also cut off. I used new lead free solder and cut the 8mm after the soldering. Don't need all that much alcohol to get it going so I might cut the cap back to about 1/2. Will leave plenty of alcohol. It is sitting on the standard "bug shield" It is split and a spring holds it around the generator. It was made to slide down the generator while the normal lighting device is used. The it is slid up to cover the bottom hole of the globe. I have found that it hold the heater cup just fine and there is plenty of room for it to slide up into the globe.

Tilly providing directed light on a bit of my collection.

Will let it run a bit. I have found that the control knob leaks even more when it is turned off as the fuel in the generator comes down. So turn it off, which on this lantern it stops right now. Then relieve the font pressure and open the valve so the fuel will drain into the font.

Tea Time for Two

Now I need to get some digestive biscuits.

Taking Coleman from tweekers is good sport. In just a few short lessons you too can be snatching up Coleman from tweekers. Just like taking candy cigarettes from a tweeker baby.

Some guy brought in a 52 200 A today to sell it . We put up a sign that says we buy old Coleman Stoves and lanterns. People bring stuff in all the time. This guy said he was so happy because he was going to get some beer with the money. Mind you he traded a really solid 52 200A with a perfect ceramic burner for a cold pack?

:D  :frightened:

Its the first 200 a I have collected that has the ceramic burner. Tank is clean. It appears to be in good order, major chipage on the hat. No camera here sorry.

Nice score, I have never seen a 200A older than a 1966.

I burned my Tilley for 6 hours last night. Burned great, no problems and as the paper towel I had jammed under my leak was not soaked with kerosene I just turn it off and watched it, no leak. So I put it on a plate while I slept and still no leak. Did the seal swell? If it did do I trust it? ( NO ) Will need to get a repair kit or something before I really trust it. I imagine it has not been used since the 60s. It was made Sep 1963

Dont worry people Randy is very skilled at playing with fire. He knows that paper towels rip into fireballs faster than a tweeker baby eats candy cigarettes.

Sorry I just cant stop myself.

Just looking for some excitement in my life. I wasn't to worried. The font on that doesn't warm up at all. I suppose I should get a fire extinguisher some day. Or a bucket of dry sand.

:D
