Opps I did it again...

I found this 1970 Coleman 513-700 heater today. the price was right so it came home with me. Looking at it I think it may have been fired one time. My original intent was to sell it on eBay for a small profit to help support my Coleman habit but I found a issue. The original owner engraved their name & SS# on the side of the tank. I don't fell comfortable selling it with that information so I am not sure what to do with it. It may become my garage heater.

Hmmm, I think you should fill the engraving with fiberglass resin, sand it smooth, and paint the thingie blue to match all your other appliances.

Did you paint your trailer to match yet?

I paid less than 1/2 that....That is still a good price with the fuel included. Coleman fuel is $8-9 a gallon right now.

You can store Coleman fuel a long time. The cans pictured are the same can they sell today. I know people that are burning 15 year old fuel. If it is still clear you can burn it.

That sounds quite different from gas, the kind you pump into your car. That's good to know!

Do they make generators that run on coleman fuel?

Are you talking electrical generators? I do not think so. They do make them that run off propane & natural gas. Coleman fuel is a naptha mixture.

At $8-$9 a gallon I don't think I would want to run it in an engine of any kind!

Is that how much that fuel goes for now? Geesh...

I just know I can't store gas for any length of time. I thought maybe coleman fuel was the answer. I guess I'll keep looking...

I think my local Wal-Mart had fuel for $6/gallon

I'd go look at that heater, but it's a bit of a hike and I already have a propane buddy heater.

Well I did the deed. I lit it. It is currently burning in the garage. (with the door open 5"-6") It was 45 degrees when I lit it. It is already 55 degrees.
