Small find

Postby dmb90260 » Tue Aug 18, 2009 2:32 pm

At a swap meet today I passed on a number of lanterns which I did not need. They needed work which I am not good at. On another table away from any lanterns I did find this for $2. Thanks to you guys I knew what it was.

Does this need a filter inside? The official name is No O Filter Funnel.
No more spilling fuel but now I have to find the right place to stash it so it is handy and I do not misplace it. It could have used a little tab with a hole.
I guess what I really need is a full wooden storage box with a drawer for accessories.l

Nice little funnel Dennis. The 0 fits the 242 lanterns and any that have the small filler neck. Jeremy would know for sure, but I think there was a screen in them. A circle of felt in the bottom would work well, that's what the later ones had, but they had a keeper ring that they are sort of stretched over. Maybe make it too big and push it in so it's concave. There should be a very fine screen at the bottom of the funnel. I am not sure if they had the felt filter also but I think it did. I found a 1937 Coleman catalog that show the copper funnel I have & it is supposed to have the felt filter also.

Perhaps coffee filters could be cut to fit, plus they would be disposable.

That is a fine idea. I have grease filters but a lot more coffee filters and I will not have to cut a hole in my favorite fedora. :o
