Found this coleman gold bond catalytic heater this morning at the flea market for $10. It looks good with my Gold Bond lantern, now all I need is the gold bond stove, 200a lantern version.

Are Catalytic heaters safe in an enclosed trailer?

Postby ssample » Sun Oct 25, 2009 2:34 pm

I have read that they are safe, but I worry that if the fuel is releasing energy, then there have to be by-products from the heating reaction and they are probably harmful to a good nights sleep. Can someone fill me in on this? Thanks

Great score!!!!...especially on the lantern if it's a new buy...There are guys that doctor them up and sell them on e-bay for plenty of dough and it appears that you have an original....Hang on to it... It'll probably do better than any of the investments I have right now, but ya done good! Doug

I hear you Doug. Ya, that seems to be a bad trend on ebay. Thats why I never buy anything on ebay. I just go around to my local flea markets and garage sales. I picked this lantern up back in spring at a local garage sale for $10. I practically dove on it when I saw it.... I never thought that that i'd find a gold bond lantern out in the wild.

I had two of those some years back and enjoyed their work inside a tent. My wife was a picky person and even she liked them. When I saw your find it brought back memories. Flip it over until a fifty cent wet spot appears on the cloth and then light it. Do this outside so fumes are outside and a clean heat will eventually take over after the flame disappears. Great find. lasts almost two nights.
Long time researching the abandoned South Pennsylvania Railroad along the Pennsylvania Turnpike. God will guide me. As he has done so in the past. southpennrailroad.com
