If it is a 425 without a letter behind it then it is 1948-1953. There may be a date stamp on one of the tabs on the tank.

Great buy. :applause: :applause: :applause:

Very nice find! Can't ask for one in much better shape than that. I have a same vintage 426 three burner but it needs a lot of work to look anywhere near that good. Congrats!

I have the same stove.

What Doug noticed different about ours is that our legs have little locking features built into the case. The 425 on Terry Marsh's site does not have these tabs. Seems that maybe ours are very early 49 or 50. I haven't been able to find a date on mine.

Also it looks like your decal is a little different than mine.

Seems that often times they just put together whatever worked, especially at model transitions. Not acceptable in today's environment but rumor is that ole Mr. Coleman was very frugal....

Thats a VERY nice 425. The 425 is a favorite of mine. Its so simple looking, and has nice clean lines. Its amazing the difference in condition that people keep their stuff in. I found this one for $10 at an estate sale

and this one for $3 at a rummage sale. :(

This is one of my projects in the near future! :)

I am in good company. 8)
I have a question on recondtioning & rehabing finds since these finds are considered vintage is it common to refinish the paint or leave the natural patina? Is there a loss of value? or am I thinking too much

I think yours is pretty good as is. You might paint the manifold, burners and grate, (I did that after the picture was taken)but I'd leave the green alone. Obviously if its like my $3 one, it needs a complete redo, but yours is in excellent shape for being that old. Scorch marks are pretty much normal on 425's because they are a smaller stove, but as long as it isnt full of rust, clean it up and enjoy it.
