Coleman stove 414

Postby ERV » Tue Mar 30, 2010 4:31 pm

Well we went for a walk around the neighborhood, ran into a yard sell. What can I say, ha. Got a coleman powerhouse stove for $10. It is like new. One of the feet is pushed in some but I think I can just push it back out. Paint is really nice.

My question is can I use the coleman fuel in it or do I have to use the unleaded gas? It does not say on the stove, just that it runs on the unleaded gas.

If It is just Unleaded I think I will just sell it and get another one like I have that is duel fuel. I found some last year at the flea market but to high a price.

for me I used Coleman fuel. Coleman fuel is refined naphtha. Unleaded gas will begin to clog up the generator due to the additives found in pump gas and cause it to fail prematurely. I have this fear of pressurized unleaded gasoline so close to a flame - Naphtha is a little less volatile

Page 2 Number 2: this stove is designed to use automotine unleaded gasoline or Coleman fuel.

I have four stoves now and around 6 lanterns. Two of the stoves work, And three of the lanterns. Just two one burns and a few other odds and ends. And I am really into the kerosene lanterns and lights. Must have around 30 or so lights and 16 lanterns. (YK2) HA

I guess I just like old stuff. I will sell some of them here when I get them cleaned up. Sold a few last year I got at the flea market we have close here. I don't like to see them go to waste.

When you stop to think - some of the stuff is now 50+ years old and still works just like it's supposed to. My oldest Coleman is 242 C lantern dated 1947. That's 63 yrs!. . . and I got it for the princely sum of $1.50 at a garage sale ;)
