A month or so ago I saw two lanterns sitting along side a driveway at someone's home. After stopping by several times I finally caught them at home , ha. I got 27 spare mantles, a single mantle 200 A and a twin mantle 285 (each with spare generators!), plastic storage box for the 285 and the 200 A has a cover and connecting band for the bottom to form a storage compartment. All for ten bucks, ha!
My wife has informed me that I have ENOUGH Coleman lanterns and we need to "thin out" our stuff. Don't tell her but I plan on buying all I can if the price is "right".
So, when I finish my trailer I'll take them to gatherings and "pass them on" for little more than what I have in em. I plan on keeping the single mantle lanterns as I just think they are cool! Stay tuned.
Here is an email I got from a fellow that makes check valve removal tools for Coleman stuff. It is pretty slick. It has a long screw (it comes with different sizes for different vintage valves) that screws into the valve, a tool that slides over the screw and engages the valve. You add a nut to the long screw to tighten the driver into the check valve making it very secure and practically impossible for the driver to slip out of the valve. Then you can successfully remove the valve without damage. Some of you might be interested in purchasing one.

The tool sells to CCF (Coleman Collectors Forum- at www.oldcolemanparts.com) members for $30 plus $5 shipping.
Add $1.65 if paying by Paypal (to cover their charge)

Visible in the back of the Coleman stuff is a hydraulic unit (new price $7,500) I picked up for $100 at a garage sale. Gonna sell it (hopefully). Also got a Power Caster trailer mover (new $1200) for $200. It sold within minutes of listing it on Craigslist for $500! At the same garage sale I got a 1500 watt Coleman generator (almost like new) for $100 (new $500). Yeah, Coleman is not as good as Honda, but close enough! Also pictured is the VW engine out of my son's baja bug and the Subaru engine we're were gonna replace it with. 120 hp versus 50!!!! The bug will then scoot and be (hopefully) more reliable!
