I found this today at the swap meet...

It is a 1987 SMP Milspec. It looks like it was fire a couple times. It has all of the spare parts, , 2 extra generators.6 extra mantles, the wrench, the original box & the parts list. It is even full of gas. One of the quadrant glass pieces is cracked. All for $12.00, I could not pass it up.

Would it bad to paint it Blue & Black to match my Sears stuff???    (just kidding)

Great find at a great price Jeremy, congrats.

And since it's been fired at least once you can run that baby all you want!

I finally got this darn lantern running correctly.

Image

It lit the day I ought and then not again. It turned out to be a dirty fuel/air tube in the fount and a plugged generator tip.

Mil Spec Lanterns

Postby eamarquardt » Sun Jul 11, 2010 12:45 am

The only place I ever saw these lanterns used was at the Bttn CP. I asked my son, LCpl Marquardt, if they were still using them. His answer: "I've never been invited to the Bttn CP".

Cheers,

Gus
