repair advice needed coleman lanterns

Postby tk » Sun Jun 06, 2010 2:34 pm

Warning--I'm basically non-mechanical so any proffered adice neeeds to be simplified. ;) Have two colemans in need of attention:

A '76 228J leaks a little at the top of the tank. How dangerous is this? How can it be repaired? Does it just need tightening?

A '70 220F is not allowing any fuel to pass to the upper section. I assume cleaning out the tank is in order. What about whatever connection there is from tank to top. Is this a repair/clean-out or is it a replace a part kinda thing?

Thanks,
Tom

Never mind I found a Coleman troubleshooting site that I hadn't located earlier.

Thanks anyway,
Tom

It would be most helpful and to many if you'd post the link to the troubleshooting webpage you've found.

I was about to refer you to this one:

http://www.oldcolemanparts.com/resource ... _1lant.cfm

It's "Rebuilding a Single Mantle Lantern " but the gist of it's general principles and mechanical procedures apply to overhauling most Coleman gas pressure stuff.

Please post some pics of your lanterns!

Yup. http://www.oldcolemanparts.com/ Is about the best place for troubleshooting. Waiting for check valve and graphite packing for my 200A to come in.
