Caught the fever - found a 275

Postby TwilightLane » Tue Jun 08, 2010 11:12 pm

Well I've been taking a break from the build for a while. I've been prowling garage sales for a couple of months looking for an old coleman lantern or stove. Zip! I didnt find a darn thing.

So I mention to my wife one morning and she said she'd have a look. 15 minutes later she texts me: she found a lantern, a green metal sided coleman cooler and a 1 gallon metal water jug. Score! The lantern was three bucks! In it's original box.

Here it is before I cleaned it up a bit:

A little chip on the cap. Otherwise it seems to be in fine condition.

Here it is all spiffed up. I added some fuel, realized I needed to oil up the leather cup in the plunger, put on a new set of mantles (that were in the bottom of the box) and it lit right up. Cool!

"All NEW Design"

:awesome:

Love those '70s turds. One would look great between two '50s lanterns.

It's stamped on the underside with a 1 and a 79. Does that meanit was produced in January 1979??

If it had been a 2/79 that would be my brithday lantern and I would be extremely jealous.
