found an L427 Quicklite

Postby High Desert » Fri Jun 11, 2010 4:14 pm

My newest addition, and the oldest lantern I have by far. It's an L427 Quicklite, dated 8/29. Been sitting around for a few decades, but still solid. All the valves turn free except for the tip cleaner (R55 gen) and no real dents. Original mica globe. Fount looks good inside, just a little dirty.

This should be a fun one to restore. I want to do it right, including a new mica globe. Also need to find the proper winged fuel cap, so if anyone has an extra.....

Found it on Ebay. Won the bid for opening price....of $.99 :D Shipping was $7.65 as it was fairly close. My personal score of the month 8)

Ever think about what uses this might have seen when it was new back in 1929? A fun thought...

Congratulations! That's an amazing purchase there. Am I correct in understanding that you paid 99 cents then 7.whatever for mailing?

Thanks Doug. Yeah, from what I hear those nickel wing caps are mostly made of Unobtainium lol. The search is on, probably end up buying an entire lantern to get one. But then it will get fixed.....well, you know how that goes...
