A birthday lantern for my wife

Postby High Desert » Wed Jun 16, 2010 12:22 pm

This was a fun lantern to find. My wife's birthday lantern, a 220E transition model. Got it from a pal for a good price, and it came with the original box. Fount was spotless, just needed a quick cleaning and a little wax. After some initial testing I burned in a set of mantles, added fuel and lit it right up. Ran it for over an hour last night, burned like a champ. IMO it's perfect for a user, not perfect but still nice condition. It will go in a Coleman metal case I got awhile back so it can travel, she said it goes on all camping trips from now on! 8)

It's a 10/63 Jeremy. From what I've read the transition ones came out over about 5 or 6 months in the latter part of '63. I've got an 8/63 228E transition that makes a good mate to this one.

I rememeber that one you found recently, that was a sharp one!

Nice lantern Shaun. Kinda tricky how you got your wife to support your hobby. My husband likes my 200A. I almost have him ready to convert over to white gas. We have had the propane versus white gas argument going for a few years. I am gonna start looking for his birthday lantern and have it painted to match his Shasta.

There ya go Dawn. Painted to match the Shasta would be hard to beat, very cool idea.

What date do you need? Maybe one of us has something with the correct date...

If they enjoy it, it's sharing, not tricky lol! ;)

Painting them up to match a trailer really makes the package. I've got a stove done up for the new trailer need to paint the tank, and have a 228 that matches the Voyager. I gotta find a Sears black top for a 200 or 220 so I can do the tank to match the new trailer. Great idea on the B-day lantern for the wife. Doug

202

Kerosene
