200A with schrader valve

Postby starleen2 » Fri Jun 25, 2010 11:06 am

OK folks – here is my latest find. I got a call early Saturday morning from a friend who was at a garage sale. When I said early – I mean about 6:25 am! He said he found an old wooden box with a Coleman lantern in it. He said he be there for a few minutes and I’d better come and check it out. When I got there – I saw the wooden box and opened it up and looky what was inside!

A 200 A 195(7?), gallon of vintage fuel, two packages of silklites, a new generator, and No 0 Coleman funnel. But the strangest thing about this 200 A is that it has a Shrader valve in the cap – and yes, that is the other piece of the cap in the photo. I’m intrigued as to what this was for since the pump does work. BTW – this 2 piece cap appears to be made by Coleman since it’s defiantly not a hack and is the right diameter with seal – all this for the princely sum of $15.00

Great price!

You do have that "Midas touch" when it comes to Coleman gear, I must say...

Chances are that the fuel cap was modified by it's owner who may very well have been a machinist... leading to what you see as a "factory" appearing modification?

Certainly is a quick way to get your lantern up and running! I would imagine just a quick, regulated blast from the air hose would do the trick. Has anyone ever published common operating fount pressure figures?

I would imagine it's not much more than 10 psi...

Might be something Coleman tried... But found out people like Heikki were getting 20' tall flare ups using too much air pressure...

My dad had this doohicky that screwed onto the filler cap. Then put a CO2 cartridge in it, tightened it down (which pierced the cartridge) and viola, the tank was pressurized with no pumping.
