The vent is painted with a high them black engine paint. I painted it before I took the lantern apart. I baked it on by firing up the the lantern and put the vent back on for almost an hour. So far, so good.

I just need a custom decal, & it will be done.

you can polish it all you want - but then you'd have a polished Turd!

Jeremy....did you do anything to prep the vent prior to spraying it other than just cleaning it. Any scuff? Doug

I use an air grinder with a scotch-brite pad and scuffed it up just enough to take the shine away. I was going to take it to wotk and sand blast it but I thought I would try this first.

No primer. I took it off the lantern to paint it, lit the lantern & carefully set it back on to to heat up and bake for a while then turned the lantern off. Once cool to touch I repeated this 2 more times.

Keep in mind that this will not be a daily driver. It was just for fun and it will get used only once in a while.

I sprayed the oven on my 2E with the engine enamel...supposed to handle 500 F. That's about as high of a temp that you'll get on a gloss paint. I've fired the stove, but haven't taken a chance on the oven. Doug
