Interesting info on these lanterns.

I have a copy of the specification the lantern is made too. In the specification under the Marking and Identification section it says "The letters "US", the manufactures name, tradename, or trademark and the year of the contract shall be marked on the stove."

It looks like based on that statement, the date on the stove is not the manufacturing date but the contract date.
