Success!!

I learned something during the test. It is hard to keep the oven temp consistent. I finally was able to get it to 325-350 the whole tome doing the Brownie muffins. I guess it will come with more practice....

Test 2 will be on my 500A stove...

Cool find. I've seen beat-up ones, but none this nice. I wondered how they worked.

Death by Chocolate party tonight at rainjer's house.

Here is what it looks like on the 500A stove. I think I would need a wind guard to help funnel the heat up.

I didn't. It is a prototype... I put it together a few weeks ago. I have a Coleman one on the way to me. I am going to use it as a pattern an make 2 with my blue formica on them. This one was just to test my technique.

Not long. I lit the stove & let it warm up. Then put the oven on. I then ran into the house a grabbed the ingredients. I carried everything back out to the trailer and mixed it up. By the time the batter was ready to go in the oven the oven was ready. It took some time to get the temp adjusted. I have been told to put a pizza stone for a BBQ between the oven & the stove grate to help regulate the temp.

Jeremy, nice looking oven, and a great find.

Someone told me while camping at Goldendale WA that when baking in a propane fueled oven to cook 25 deg less since it cooks hotter than natural gas and electricity.
Don't know if it would apply to your set up but it seems to work with our CampChef oven. :D Danny

A pizza stone, some fire place tiles, some cast iron -- anything to add thermal mass should help keep the temperature more stable.

Maybe get a thick piece of steel plate cut to fit the bottom of the oven.

Could you post a couple of pictures of your side shelf on your stove? that's pretty cool.

A friend of mine is getting me a couple piece of 12" X 12" unglazed porcelain tile. One will go under the oven & the other will be cut down to fit inside as a baking stone.

The next thing I need to find is some nonstick baking pan that will fit inside. The door opening is only 9" wide. I know they make toaste oven size but they are really small.
