Burning some fuel...

Postby rainjer » Sat Aug 21, 2010 10:44 pm

After my camping trip last weekend I decided to tear down my Sears 220 to try and figure out why it does not burn as bright as the 275. After re-cleaning everything it made no difference. So then I started swapping parts. Still no improvement. During all of this work, I was able to keep from breaking the mantles. So the last time I was putting the generator in I broke one mantle. So I tied a new on on and burned it in and lit it. It is now brighter. Go figure, I should have started with the mantles...

After all of the fettling I decided to fire up my other 2 mantles for comparison.

Let to right:
Todays 220F
The 275275
The free wedding 220F
The Sears 220

The funniest thing is the brightest one is the one I have not even cleaned.

They were the 60 watt mantles, you needed the 100 watt ones.
