More stoves

Postby Woodbutcher » Sun Aug 29, 2010 1:26 pm

Went to my favorite flea market early this morning. Passed up several Coleman lanterns. Even a near perfect model 220 for 15 bucks. But I have a few so I showed restraint. But I did find these...

It's a 426G 3 burner. It's been used but not to bad. The outside has some rust and the tank is scratched, but it was only 15.00 so I felt like I got a good deal.

Then I found this 2 burner. It has been lite but seems unused. Not a mark on it. The box has a tag that looks like it was gotten with S&H green stamps. Maybe that is why it looks so good. The guy may have said, "I got all these stamps to use maybe I'll try camping". Maybe he told his wife and she straightened him out. Either way I am happy. I'll sell off the 2 I have and just keep this one.

The box is still nice and it has the directions as well. It's a 413E and came with a gallon of fuel for 30 bucks.

nice!!
I was hunting this am..I think it was the morning of the coleman iron. I bet I saw 30+ of those things, some still in the box. no coleman lanterns to be found. I did pass on a well used 413 like yours and a nice optimus lantern in decent shape. I passed on the optimus too. Maybe next weekend..My heart lately has been in trying to find my daughter a 3/4 sized fiddle so she leaves mine alone..

What a nice 413! A creampuff in a box is always great to find. When we first started getting everyone going on this stuff, I don't think everyone knew just exactly how much premium stuff there was out there....and it's not all that expensive. A new 424 from Wally World will run you nearly 80$ and it isn't anywhere near the stove that you got for 30! Same thing on the lanterns...some do cost a bit, but there are plenty of vintage ones in fantastic condition for very little. It also seems that more people are interested in the lanterns than the stoves, so stoves are still a real bargain. Congrats! Doug

Paul, thanks for showing me the Optimus lantern. Very cool design. I'll have to keep an eye out for one. I'm German , so I don't think I'll get any grief if I own one.

Doug, Your right on the button with your comments. It's fun to look for and not expensive. So you can use and enjoy these old Coleman pieces and not worry about them. I've got the 220 lantern you guys were helping me with all painted and ready to go back together. So wish me luck and thanks again!

Nice find, that 413 is like new and a real workhorse. Like Doug said, a true bargain when you really look at the whole picture. 8)
