Gas tank

Postby doitright » Sun Nov 07, 2010 2:59 pm

I have 8 lanterns now and have good results getting them running. I read all the post on the lanterns and stoves. Always good learning from you all. Well got a 220 K yesterday and cleaned it up today. Well for the heck of it I took it all the way down to the font. ( first time I did this) I used the B B method and had a fit at how much trash came out of the tank. I will have to go and do all my lanterns that way.
Thanks to who came up with the B B method!!!!!!

Tip - I use my air compressor to vibrate the BB's. I have a portable belt-less air compressor. whenever it's charging the tank - it vibrates like heck - so I place the filled fount on top and secure it with bungees and let it go! - after a cycle or two - I'm done. A magnetic probe helps with the removal of those stubborn BB's that just want to jiggle around and not come out.

Doh! That would make it easier getting the BB's out wouldn't it. I'm gonna have to try that next time. I have been using the shake-shake-shake method.

BB method sounds good, but how do you tell if you need to do it, or not need to do it?

I'd do it just to do it. If you look in the fill spout and see some crud on the edge, there's probably a whole bunch of crap on the "roof" that you can't see.

Randy...just pour the fuel out of the font and run it through a coffee filter when you dump it...You'll see right away if you need to BB'ize the tank. Doug
