New Sfuff

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

New Sfuff

Postby Woodbutcher » Sun Nov 14, 2010 5:03 pm

I hit an Estate sale Saturday and found this pile of new to me stuff.

Image

The cooler is in real good shape and still has all the guts in it.
The 3 burner was painted silver and I can't find a manufacturer on it. The heater is real clean also.

The stove is an old one. Maybe some of the experts can tell me about it. There is a lot of dirt but it seems like it will clean up real well without repainting. Says it's made in Wisconsin Rapids by Preway.

Nice finds! That cooler is nice. And I really like the Preway stove. I'm no expert but I believe it dates at least to the early 30s. Great overall condition from the pics. Those stoves were really built. 8) The cook top looks like it's an oldie too.

I do have an out building to put it all in but I will need to start to organize it better. YES they are breeding! But all 4 pieces were only 10 bucks so I had to buy them. That is the major problem. When things are only a couple of bucks it is impossible to pass on them. Some day my daughter will have a HUGE sale of old camping gear, and the recycling will start all over again!

Nice bunch of gear that you picked up.....if you just absolutely decide that you have no use for that Pre-Way....I'll buy it! Doesn't hurt to ask. Doug

Doug....you got it. Just pay the shipping and the $2.00 I paid for it and it's yours. I would probably never enjoy it as much as you would. You are sort of to blame for my sudden interest in the old gas stuff, so maybe it's only right that I return the favor. Also you had offered me a generator for an old Coleman lantern I got a few months ago. It could be a while before I get to it, but I may take you up on the offer. So we can help each other like you have helped so many other people effected by this disease. I am just paying it forward as you have done many times before.

PM me where to send it!

I've got a 2 burner gas cooktop like that and mine says Griswold. The castings/valves everything look exactly the same. So maybe an unmarked Griswald?

Does the whole tank/burner assembly on that Preway slide back and forth? For preheating the generator maybe (might not have the quick start feature of a modern Coleman?)

Nice finds!

Eric, I went back and looked at the 3 burner and found no markings anywhere. I will do some looking further to see what else I can find out. I may strip off the bad silver paint job and see what it looks like underneath.

On the Preway. The tank will slide back and forth. But not being an expert on these things I don't know what that means.

Thanks Steve!!!! It's here! What a great stove, all the knobs work on it, everything is freed up, Iron grate is in perfect condition. It's not a pre-heat type set up...it's an instant light. It will be a great addition to my museum of gas pressure appliances. Can't wait to start on it....gotta finish up the 413C first though. Doug

Now that I get it home...I find a really small what appears to be a pre-heat resevoir on it and one of the knobs is labeled preheat....I need to start some research on it. It'll be a fun journey! Doug
