Here's my 228E 9/60 on the left, original, untouched.
On the right is my Voyager matching 228F 10/69.
Trying to find a pic on my 1940 228...it's off to a new owner.

As for the purpose...I'd imagine to throw more light out rather than letting any go up and probably to help keep nasty weather off a globe. Just speculation though.

we only have one 228 in the bunch and it hangs under the eve of the hunting shack. no lektrickity there, it gets alot of use..I havent came across one for the collection...
