Coleman Major 236

Postby MountainBiker » Thu Apr 07, 2011 4:06 pm

Just cleaning up my step fathers estate and came across a Coleman Major 236 Lantern.

Nickle Plated and made in Canada. Looks like it was made in 1966, but not sure if I am looking in the right spot.

Have read on-line that this ran on gas???but that doesn't sound right.

It is mint with the original box. Any idea what it may be worth so I can pay the estate a fair value. All money raised is going to charity.
I quit society when I found out toothpicks came with instructions

The 236 runs on white gas. The 237 run on kerosene. It is a 500 candle power lantern. (I think)

The easy way to check is the 237 has a preheater cup on the generator.

As far as value. It depends on what someone will pay. I would say $75-$150 would be fair. You can also check eBay completed listing to see what they went for.
