I had a chance to play with the Testors water slide decal paper. They have 2 kinds, clear or white backing. Since the logo I used has white in it I used the white paper. I printed the image on my Epson 1400 using photo quality settings and after drying put several coats of Rustoleum gloss clear over the top. I let them dry overnight and cut them out this morning. Putting it on was simple but the 5 second recommended soak time didn't do anything. It took more like 20 seconds to get it sliding. The only con I found is the price, $10.49 for 6 half sheets at the local Hobby Lobby. With some clear coat over the top these would look great. Just imagine the customs you can make with these, I bet they'd work great on globes, no burning though.

I also use Papillio inkjet media and vinyl white backing. The only problem I have had was the color is starting to run on one lantern that got wet during a freak rain. I guess maybe I didn't put enough clear on.
Nice work! Your stuff is impressive. Just a hint, warmer water decreases the slide time, but be careful, it also can wash away the adhesive if you soak it too long.
You've been holding out on us Scott? I was impressed with the label of yours I saw on the vinyl. Did you do anything to make it waterproof?
The biggest problem I have with painting or varnishing is bugs and dust. I've been pondering ways to have a painting area in the basement and vent the fumes outside.
