I bought a lantern box on ebay.

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

I bought a lantern box on ebay.

Postby campmaster-k » Thu Oct 20, 2011 5:07 pm

I bid on what I thought was a lantern. It was so cheap I was blinded. When I realized it was just a box I started looking at the other stuff the person had for sale to buffer the shipping. Guess what they had? Thats right they had a Coleman lantern. It was not the one that went with the box. It was a modern lantern, one I didnt really like but it was cheap and I thought it would make me feel better. So I bid on that one too. The next morning (today) I got a note back from the seller that it would be fine with her if I didnt want the box. So I bought a lantern I have no interest in because I bid on a box I never wanted in the first place. Evil that ebay. :o

:duh:
I think we've probably all been there. I, however, have conveniently blocked all memories of when that was me.

Kirk.....you're hyperventilating on this stuff....just take some deep breaths and think before you pull the trigger. It's OK to let something go to someone else, besides...next thing you know, you'll be thinking..."what the hell was I thinking and why did I get this?" OH I forgot...you're already there. ;) Doug

And another thing! You ladies and gentlemen started this fire. And now I cant put it out. I guess it could be worse. I could be collecting Hummels or something.

You poor guy.....you just haven't discover the wonderful world of gas pressure stoves yet. Imagine a Coleman stove that folds down flat like any other suitcase stove...yet magically opens up and unfolds with a complete oven assembly on the top! And to think...it's 82 years old and still a cooker...it's the black one on the end of the table....2E. A lantern will give you light...a stove will feed you! Doug

Hey I say a model 1 on ebay yesterday I think. It had the oven and It looked just like the one you have in the picture. It was unrestored and in very good shape. I dont know what it sold for. Stoves seem to be harder to find at flea markets.

Well, at least nice older ones....go to Denios in Sacramento and you can pick up a load of 413's, but they are mostly newer models. I saw more stoves than lanterns. Nothing in a nickle lantern could be found.

We did pick up a really odd ball stove sold from an outfitters shop in SF back in the late 20's...Spiro. It was a cheaply manufactured one...all stamped manifold and parts. Very hard rebuild...not mine to do though. Look for the cast iron stuff. Doug
