Not really camping equipment,I just bought this from E-Bay and was going to put a lantern top to use as a table lamp. What would work on this or should I get a globe to fit and put on a shade? Its a 152A.

Even I wouldn't modify that one....It appears to be pretty nice and ought to be done up as a table lamp in my opinion. I'd do the shade on it. I have sort of been looking for one, but it's a half-hearted attempt at it. I've got a load of stuff to do now and really need to clean the shop so I can do them up. I need to buy some extra time. I was looking for older but didnt want to have a seperate pump. This was just under $35 shipped so it aint a real big loss either way I go.
Now to find a globe that fits is going to be the expensive part unless I can make something fit that is still made.

I would find or make a metal shade for it and take it camping.

I just picked up 3 of these tonight. All different but similar. So I'll be looking for shades to. I'll post pictures soon. Maybe someone will know what the shades looked like.

the 152A would have had a plastic pleated shade in either tan or light blue so I guess any modern shade will work for mine. The hard part (expensive)is going to be finding a 355 globe.
here is what it should look like.

I found a Pyrex shade for mine.

If you did find a lantern top to put on. It would have to be an early lantern that has to be pre-heated. I can't think of an easy way to install the instant lighting fuel stem without loosing the extra height.

I have mentioned this before but I will post this again for those who have missed it. Most of this type of lamp are not instant lighting. To light them properly the generator must be preheated. If you do not do this properly raw liquid fuel will drip out of the mantels onto the lamp igniting as it passes your match. the result is that a big stream of flaming fuel will force you to abandon any attempt to shut the valve off. As the generator dose start to warm the flaming liquid will increase in speed and quantity as it drips all over the font and runs all over the surface that the lamp is sitting on. By now you have a raging fire on your hands. Just as you are ready to call 911 and evacuate the shop the generator finally starts vaporizing the fuel as intended and the fuel burns off of the bench and goes out. Now while this dose a lot of good to ones lack of excitement in their lives I personally do not recommend taking such extreme measures to spice things up a bit.I hope this is good information for those who have not tried to light one of these before but mostly hope this information prevents some unlucky soul from doing so in the wrong place. I would hate to read on here that someone has burnt their house down.

Thanks Mark, great info. Also thanks for the link on Sunshine. I thought when I saw the lamp at the flea it had to have a connection to Coleman. Good to know.
