AGM lovers rejoice

It wants to live!!! :D
I posted about this lantern a few months ago.
I purchased this at an antiqe store for $10.00. At the time I had never heard about AGM. I had no idea what I was looking at, but it was calling to me as I walked by. It was sitting outdoors. All the metal pieces were rusted but the chrome fount and the blue vent were shinning through.
I took a chance and took it home. Over the course of many weeks I have been working on this. Cleaning the rust. Painting the burner cage and the collar. I had to find a new gasket for the gas cap and fasion a new leather pump. I cleaned out the tank. I also used some bbg paint on the rust on the vent. This thing has been a pleasure to work on and went back together easy (unlike a couple that I have from the 40's, fighting me tooth and nail). I had tried once, before I was finished to put it together for a quick burn, but no luck. Fuel was leaking and flames shooting. A quick shut down was in order. This time I took my time and made sure every thing was tight. The generator has a loop in it so I figured a preheat was in order. When I burned in the new mantles i used it as a preheat. I also used a lighter to help warm it up. Then I turned the gas on and poof. It lit right up. Just as though it were new. It was a thing of beauty. :applause: :applause: It put a smile on my face. :) From the moment I come across this thing it was though it wanted to live. At present it has been burning for four hours. Just amazing. This thing dates from1926.

Nice lantern!!

I like the compact look...not as tall as the Colemans.

Lucky you that it lit up and stayed lit!! 1926...wow..they don't make them like they used to!!

Nice AGM, I have two from the 50s maybe 60s, have not been able to get them to work yet. I have the single mantel ones they made fore Sears. Maybe I will work on them tomorrow. I have a Doctor appointment at 5 pm so that might be handy

This thing is so cool!!! You know the feeling you get when you see one of doug's restores. Every time I light this thing I get that feeling. It's just so neat to watch it work. It flames up untill the geny gets warmed up, then it settles down to a smooth burn. Not saying this looks as nice as one of Doug's restores, but its such a wonder to watch it work. I like to think what the world was like back when these things were created. Fun to ponder. 1926 U.S. Route 66 is created running from Chicago to Los Angeles. Kelly Blue Book First Published. Henry Ford announces the 40-hour week. Jan 07 On this day in history comics George Burns and Gracie Allen are married in Cleveland, Ohio.
June 1 Norma Jeane Mortenson--who will become better known around the world as the glamorous actress and sex symbol Marilyn Monroe--is born on this day in 1926. fun to think about.

Randy , Yea I have one of those AMG's made for Sears. not sure what I am going to do with it. The thing is completely frozen up. ??????

On mine they work, but as far as I can tell the hole in the nozzel has worn to large, also can seldom get the gennie to seal good, there just is not much of a flange there for the jam nuts to work on. Other than that they work just fine, pump up real nice and all. Just they spray out way to much fuel.

I have 3 AGM stoves and they are great. have some of the strangest generators around. But they work.

Are there any AGM experts around that might know about what year this was born? The original fount was brass and had the typical crack so I used the fount from the kooklite I had that was missing the cook top shades and needed a generator. Not sure if the SUN FLAME marked globe is original on this one or not.If anybody needs a burner and frame rest for a kooklite I dont need it.(I'm keepin the vent for a project)
