A group Buy

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

A group Buy

Postby Woodbutcher » Tue Jan 24, 2012 10:12 pm

A Craigslist find. I rarely find any Coleman there but this time it worked out..

Image

It's a triple play 500-501-502 . (I know not to light the 501). The lanterns were a bonus. All seem to be in pretty good shape.

Then I found this a few weeks ago. It looks bad but it's just filthy. But it came with a Safe, some Silk Lites and Wrench.

Life is good!

Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind? Ask yourself these simple questions every time you are in doubt about any action.

Ok, I will get some better lamp pictures. They are not my most favorite things. But it was a group buy.

Slow, The 501 was recalled because it could explode.

The 200 looks like it went to Burning Man.

I know it looks bad Kirk. That is probably why no one bought it. I'll clean it up and post a picture. You will be surprised!

Well I cleaned it up some. Replaced the fuel tank gasket. Changed the fuel and it lite right up. Looks a little better. The vent only has one flea bite.

I think they explode because they would not turn off all the way and people would open the gas cap to loose presure to cut it off. Large amounts of vapor close to the flame will make a boom. but still do not use it.

Hey is the 501 is a hard one to find and worth a good bit because Coleman repalced them with the 502 during the recal?

No. No. I did not mean bad. Just white dust from the black rock desert. I would never speak ill of a 200. I love them all equally. Rust, chips, fade, broken glass, missing knobs, old age, wrong date, bent bail, rented fount, ceramic burners, plugged tubes, I love them all.

In fact I too have a new one. As soon as I am over this dreaded flu I will share. Happy hunting all. 8)

No Worries Kirk, I didn't take it that way. I was just trying to say that it looked real bad on the shelf at the mall and most people can't overlook the crud that was on it. These little lanterns are among my favorites to.

I think that 200S was cleaner than I, my tow vehicle and treardrop was when we left Burning man.

Nice finds there. I have not been doing to well finding them in wild lately. Did get an oven today but no great deal. $8
