Custom Lantern - 220F Blue Yonder Edition

Postby Loader » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:09 pm

Decided I would customize one of my 220F lanterns to match the Blue Yonder. Here are a few photos (click photo for larger view). Thanks to Darren for the custom globe and decal!

Kirk, the Blue Yonder is my teardrop. Here's my build thread. Called it the Blue Yonder due to my career in the US Air Force.

The vent on the lantern..did you have it re-enameled? How did you get the color right? Send them a sample of the paint you were using for the fount?

This is awesome. Really a great idea. The custom globe is really something. I'm so impressed. That thing is great. Are you coming out for the IRG?? I hope to see The Blue Yonder, both the teardrop and the lantern there!! :applause:

Thanks for the kind words. Actually I emailed with Jeff at IPE and he sent me a couple samples of the shades of dark blue he had. I picked the one I wanted, then I went and found paint to match the enamel color I selected. Took Jeff and IPE about 3 weeks to do it.

Darren (both here and over at CCF) did the globe and decal for me. He really does great work!

No, we can't make it to IRG this year, some day I hope to make the trip out there.

Thanks Randy and Gary!

Gary, same here, we really are looking forward to BB this year, the getaway is much needed. Should be some good times around the camp fire catching up!

Earl, you might just start a trend! Every Coleman collector with their own 'surplus' lantern customized for their trailer!!

I think I may need to find out more about Darren and his work...does he just do small stuff like lantern decals or does he do things like graphics for the side of trailers (I need new "Grasshopper" lettering for my tear..mine is starting to curl..) and I really do want a big Coleman decal for my propane tank...for the 'fake fire'..gotta paint that thing Coleman green!

Now if I can just get one of my 220f lanterns working....
