Hwy 80 sale

Postby Joamon » Sun Apr 22, 2012 8:21 pm

There is a multi-state sale called the highway 80 sale. I think I drove 400 miles in two days. Didn't see much really. I bought three lanterns. Each have had a very hard life, but all are models I don't have.

The first one is my first Kero burner. This is the first one I have seen in the wild. It has the wrong globe (which is broken) and fuel cap. I need to learn about these kero models.

The second is my first and only blackband. It is a 52 model. The guy said it worked. I brought it home, changed the fuel and it lit right up. But boy is it rough. I think this will be my first lantern paint job.

The last is a Coleman Quicklite style Lantern. The generator, the collar, & the fuel cap are all different than the Quicklite that I have.
I need to do a little more research to find out what I have.

Well I just read on the coleman website, a thread that I must have bought a Sunshine Safety Lantern.
This company was before the Quicklite. Coleman bought them out. The two models are similar.

Very nice finds. I like rough lanterns. They are cheap, they can be made into a good user, or used for parts. Plus they are good to get your total up.
