A & J Cox Waffle Iron

Postby absolutsnwbrdr » Thu May 03, 2012 12:56 pm

Stumbled across this at an antique center. Its all there, pretty good condition. Cast in the stand are A. & J. COX PHILADA. And then at each side of the handle are the cast numbers 9 10.

Anyone ever hear of it? Idea of age?

Zach,
One of those was my first cast iron waffle iron, although mine is not in as good condition as yours. I have no idea as to age, but I have always enjoyed cooking with it. My only issue is with opening it since it really dosen't have a very good handle for opening. When they were younger, my boys enjoyed the different shapes that the iron molded into waffle, not just boring squares.

I look forward to using it Tom. I've been searching for the past hour and have not been able to find any info on A.J. Cox. in Phila. There was another company from Philadelphia - Cox Whitman & Cox - so I'm guessing the name just changed at some point. But I can't find any info on either company or their castings.
