Todays project AGM

Postby kzhorse » Sat May 19, 2012 7:25 pm

I picked this up this morning for $10 it dont have the original glass but does have a sunrise globe so I had to grab it.
Got it home and tore it down to find someone tried before I got it and twisted the bung hole loose in the top of the fount. So the fun begins.

As found.

Heated it up and removed all the old solder and preped it to be re-soldered.

The bung hole re-soldered and the valve installed.

Cleaned up the burner and cage.

All back together ready to fire up.

And sitting here keeping its little brother company.Running on a slightly modified 220 generator.

Great job! Also nice old globe in the AGM. They are hard to find.

Nice save! I love those AGMs. They have a look all to them selves. I just wish there founts were better.
Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind? Ask yourself these simple questions every time you are in doubt about any action.

Great looking lanterns. I need to revisit my flame bomb AGMs someday. After I get a fire extinguisher.

Really nice job !
I have an early (1920 something) AGM, but beyond that every AGM lantern that I have bought has been a waist of money.
Parts lanterns. I do have one looks like yours. May have some possibility. Needs a generator.

Maybe someday !!!

Does the generator look like one from a 220 series coleman? If so all I did was file the end and stuck it sideways where the original ball end would have went. You just need to take off enough so that it clears and allows the E-block to retract into the valve. just check that you can completely rotate after it is put back together.

Well I went to check out the AGM lantern that I have. Turns out, I think its a kero burner. It's a model 3470c. Its missing the generator and the label says to preheat with alcohol.
I don't know much about these but I think this one would clean up, it just needs a generator and a new globe and cleaning.
