Postby dsmith » Wed Apr 29, 2009 8:57 am

I introduced this in the newbie forum and thought I'd bring it over here where it fits!??

Concept:

Compact gear hauler w/ a full service Galley.
Main Compartment to double as a Transport Kennel for dog during hunting season.
Secure storage for Bow and Shotgun/Rifle.

Here is the Concept:

Some Build Pics.
The Carcass is coming togther,

The dividing bulk heads are dadoed into the walls, deck, and roof.

I had to do some work to the Kennel door openings because of a mis-cut. Biscuit joiner, lots of glue, putty and viola!

I ordered Grant Whipp's huricane hinges last week, 3 in total 1 for the galley and 2 for the front lockers. They Arrived monday in great shape, trying to carve some time out to get more work done.

That is a great idea. Great use of space, very efficient. What type of venting/doors for the kennel area?

I was wondering why the water balloon was getting bigger... and then it hit me.

Neat idea, I always like any design with high functionality. What kind of chassis are you going to mount it on?

ready2camp,
I hadn't decided on the venting yet, any suggestions?

Thanks Mark and Cindi!

Shaun,
Thanks, I am all about space, function, and versatility. ;)
When I started the build the idea was for it to slide in and out of a 5 x 12 utility trailer, but I found a 2 good to pass up deal on a harbor freight 40 1/2 x 48 that I modified runners on the belly so I can mount it on that.

Work has been nuts so not much progress until the past few days. I completed the frame and skin for the hatch.

And finally got to use my dovetail jig for my drawers and pull outs, a great joint for strength and durability!

From top to bottom: utensil drawer, stove drawer, and cooler drawer.

I also cut one Grant Whipps Hinges to fit the hatch. I left a 3/8" over hange on the leading section, and cut the trailing edge flush with the hatch. The inside strip I rounded over and trimmed it another 1/8" on each side.

I love this hinge!
Unsolicited Testimonial-Grant shipped out the hinge within two days and they arrived in perfect condition! :applause:  He also kept me posted as to the process, order received, shipped, etc. I ordered three. one for the galley hatch and the others are for my front compartments.
Here is couple of pics of the galley mocked up.

  That's neat! Now if you stretch it out you will be able to sleep with the puppies. 8) 8) 8)

You are doing beautiful work there.

Thanks Mirriam!
Work has slowed on the build because the paying job has been kinda nuts. I've been thinking about a TTT, the more time I spend on this build and this forum the more I think...
