This weekend is supposed to be in the 50's so I hope to get a couple walls up.

Yep, thats pretty much how it went with ours

I didn't break a drill bit just bent it. Went out and bought one I couldn't bend. Fried the drill. Just part of the fun. Oh and Mike got me a new drill. 8)

Only another month of really cold weather.

I got both side walls built today. Weather was 58, not bad for January. First wall took about 4 hours, second wall one hour. I decided to go with OSB, I'll get some aluminum from work to sheet it. Debating on the floor. I want indoor/outdoor carpet. Steph want vinyl flooring. I bet we'll end up going with vinyl flooring. The kids came out long enough to get their pictures taken, Steph came out long enough to take pictures. I told them they will be camping in tents if they don't help. I'm hoping to get the front wall built tomorrow and the three walls up, possibly even put the roof supports/trusses in.

I cropped them to 640x480. I'll keep trying.

Figured it out

Myke, you may have to lower the resolution for them to be uploadable. They may be 230dpi out of the camera and you should lower them to 96or so dpi.

Got the roof and front wall done today. I also did the wheel wells after taking pictures. No help from the tenters at all today. They think I'm joking, but it seems to me if they don't want to help, first night camping they ought to be in the tent. Of course I live with 3 women, so that will be shot down.

You, sir, are speaking truly. Wise is the man who makes the declaration of punishment, and then upon the sight of three pairs of indignant female eyes, lets that declaration fade upon the night breezes.
The beauty of that sentence will be the most beautiful that our weeniness will ever hope to be. I share your pain. And your weeniness in the face of the family females.
Good job on the build so far!

I have felt the drowning sensation many, many times, my friend. I finally learned that every time my head came above water, it was immediately pushed back under, so I have taken up snorkeling. Able to breath, yet invisible. 8)

Hi, Myke:
This looks like a great build! I like the slight, almost missed it, slope. In the pictures, the trailer looks really big and roomy!

When you get closer to the end, you can probably have them all manning a paint brush. Ask for help when you need it. I suspect they'll be only too happy to help, if they know they are welcome.

Thanks for sharing your progress.

Myke
A tip: start your paneling before you put the back on - large celing sheets and side panels can be fitted in one piece, but much harder if trying to fit through the door

S. Heisley, I cut my finger on the tape measure putting the slight slope on, like a paper cut. Now I have blood and sweat, the only thing missing is tears, (pun accepted, but not intended) in the camper.
Starlene2, I did notice on your build that you left the back wall for last for the paneling. Did you insulate and put the beds in first or panel first?
Micro469, If I don't get some of my wifes wall hangings up tomorrow, I'll be lucky to get a tent to sleep in. I used to run a CNC waterjet, and cut her out a lot of bears and deer wall hangings, they've been leaning against the wall for 2 years now, just can't seem to find my hammer

Myke

May I be so bold as to make 2 suggestions.

While you are at this stage of the build coat the OSB with rubberized mobile home roof coat inside and out. 2 very liberal coats. My 3x5 cargo tear has sat out in the weather 3 years and the osb is as solid as the day I built it. It will not affect the adhesion of the outer skin and will add years of life to the unit. I got excited in my 2nd build at about where you are and did not coat "Chubby" and after 2 years I am starting to see some (at this point) minor problems.

Electrical Think out your electrical NOW while the sides are open. AC ~ DC ~speaker cable ~cable tv~ central vacuum set up. OK ya get my point anything in the walls. Were I to be at the point you are now , I would use the 1/2 depth carlon plastic boxes and 3/8 or 1/2 " pvc for conduit. Slow down and really think this one out because it is so easy to add them now and a real PITA to retro fit after the walls are paneled.

I have learned both of these lessons the hard way and wish I had the wasted hours back that I spent correcting my screwups.
Growing older but not up !

BobHenry, yes, you may be so bold. I hadn't considered everything you said. I had thought about some of it, but you did point out some things I would have kicked myself for later. I was also planing on sheeting it, so I wasn't going to paint. I was worried about adhesion.
