Design & Construction of anything that's not a teardrop e.g. Grasshoppers or Sunspots

Andrew, I looked at those. If I read correct the shuttle car is 4 meters long. that has to be at least twice as long as the smart car. I don't suspect they really tow it with one. Stopping would be an adventure, that trailer better have brakes.

Yes, thanks for posting that Andrew. I really like the Weferlinger LC200. I downloaded the PDF's from that site last night. I have no idea what they say, but I think it weighs around 500 pounds?

I'm doing some Googlin' to try to get some more info on them.

Sorry, I forgot to repeat the nice little trailer built by a guy a few miles from me:

Image

Tardis Trailers - his chassis is worth a look for a lightweight trailer - in British, 40x40x3mm box section translates into American as 1-1/2"x1-1/2"x1/8" square tube.

And of course I forgot a T&TTT forum member s2escargot with his aluminum-framed teardrop behind a Smart roadster.

And if you think the basic Smart is a bit cut-down, you don't want to see the short-lived and rare Smart Crossblade:

250kg (550lb) unladen and 280kg (620lb) laden, so pack light!

And if you think the Smart is a bit small to tow with (actually it's rated here to tow 1100lb with brakes), how about this Bond Minicar pulling a Weferlinger (also posted before):

Single cylinder, 250cc, 12hp - no, not 120hp, 12hp! I expect the bike was used to increase the top speed.....

The English web page for the Shuttle-Car is: http://www.acr-engineering.com/EN/shuttlecar.htm

The price given is €10,600 (about $14,500) although you'd get some tax back if it is exported. Shipping I don't know about - though I bet the easiest, cheapest way would be for a US service person nearing the end of their tour in Germany to buy it and ship it home.
