Design & Construction of anything that's not a teardrop e.g. Grasshoppers or Sunspots

Somethimes you can combine different color ( Temperature in Kelvin or light spectrum class ) to have a desired effect on colored or textured surfaces. The use of some type of light diffuser ( paper, glass, plastic, wood and mirror ) can change the color or effect of the light. Experiment if you have the lights to try out. Kind-a like stage lights at the Play or Theater.

LED marker and tail lights are great visability.

I worked on the A/C exhaust plan today. Found this nice deep vent from a boat on ebay.

Image

Built a frame to screw and nail to...

Image

Probably not the brightest routing for that A/C drain hose...

Image

Will screw the back on. I assume someday I will have t o work on this A/C unit.

:applause:  I like the vent. I am looking so I might just do that. Have to be careful here because the rain can come at you sideways.

Might want to consider waterproofing around and inside the area of that vent. Probably would want to do that anyway considering it is for AC.

Good points, both. I am actually thinking about making a detachable cover for it. I ordered a second one, which will go on the other side for "intake". Waterproofing sounds like a plan! The idea for the cover was for cold weather camping, but I'll play with making it a permanent, but opening cover with a seal.

I received some parts today.

Checking my temporary charging circuit

Lights didn't work. Turned out to be a faulty switch

And there was light!

Last week the temperature in Phoenix hit 111º. I thought I might be done for the summer. :sweaty:

Today, however, it is extremely nice at 75º. Gotta love it! I made good progress today. :icedtea:

Put spars in for the ceiling and roof in the front part of the cabin.

Image

Got the ceiling in and built supports for the headboard area (and storage area).
Sure is a lot harder without help! I had to screw in a support for the luan to hold it in place on one side while I worked on the other side. You can see it at the bottom of the luan.

Not bad day's work!

Another good day! Beautiful weather, good ideas. Started with church, lunch, a short bike ride, then to work!

This is what she looked like at the beginning of the day.

Image

Started with testing the angle of the backrest. Both of my assistants approve!

Image

Built the cabinet facings for the Cabin, test fitted them. Ended up trimming the top by 3/8 inch.

Image

Trimmed, stained, and installed. I love my Kreg jig.

Image

Worked on the inside of the backrest/ cabinets. Decided to quit for the day because both Home Depot and Lowes are closed.

Image

Tomorrow will be another great t&ttt work day. I need to get as much done as I can while the weather is nice! Of course, I had to stop to mow the lawn. My wife started to do it, which I don't like. Oh, she knows how, but it's my job! I don't mop the floors, she doesn't mow the lawn!

(that's a joke, by the way).

Thanks, Miriam!

Today I framed the front cabinets and test fit them.

Image

They fit pretty well, so I stained and installed them.

Image

Installed the last pieces of the sides and trimmed them.

Image

Router trimming over one's head is very messy business.

Image

I installed the front.

Image

And the first piece of roof.

Image

Nice, tight fit!

Enough for one day, and a tremendous amount of progress on this Memorial Day weekend.

Got a little more done.

Test fit the Fantastic Vent

Image

Little close to the cabinetry on the inside...

Image

Put 4 single LEDs in the cabinets. Put them on a switch, so Gina can find stuff without a flashlight at night. Casts an eerie glow, but will get the job done!

I went by and met Cliff and inspected his work. (like I know something :? ) Looks like he's almost ready to go camping. I like the AC install. He is doing a GREAT job. Maybe when he is finished I'll get him to build one for me. :)

Thanks for the kind words, Lee. I'm not p[lanning on building another soon, but I'll bet it would be a lot easier and a lot lighter!

Hey

Looks like nice progress. One question on the AC Vent; Will you need some kind of screen on the inside to help keep bugs and critters out?

Pete Wilson
Why hasn't anyone found a dead bigfoot? When was the last time you found a dead deer, bear, coyote, fox, squirrel, etc. that died in the woods.........Hmmm.
