Was looking to build a teardrop, but found an original 1978 GrassHopper. Figured I couldn't build a Teardrop for the same price. Still may do a TD build in the future.

Now I need to do some minor repairs.

Anyone else have a GrassHopper?

How very cool!
How tall + long + wide is it inside?

Based on your galley pics, the Grasshopper and SunSpot look like cousins.

I really like this! :awesome: Makes me want to take all the old camper shells and other bits and pieces I have laying around and make something along these lines. Does the camper body have a wood or aluminum frame? Inquiring minds want to know. ;)

Keep us posted on the rebuild. I'd also like to see inside pix.

Nice little camper!

Mike,

Thanks for the link! I had seen that page a while back in some of my searching for small camper info but had missed that there was a second page which has some wonderful inside pix as well as some rough drawings of sizes. Great stuff! :applause: :applause:

Now I really gotta finish my TTT so I can start on a new project.

That link was a great resource. The retro pictures are the greatest.

The SunLine Sun Spot does look very similar to the GrassHopper. Looks a little taller. Think the GH is a 5 x 9, about 4 feet tall inside.

Mike,

I come in to get a cuppa coffee and glance at the computer and find this. How am I supposed to work on my current project when you keep tempting me to sit here at the computer looking (ok drooling!) at this stuff?

Seriously though, thanks for the link to your drawings. Fantastic stuff! That will make it much easier for me to see if I have enough aluminum tubing to do the entire frame out of. I'm thinking of an entirely aluminum framework with an aluminum skin and lined with foam insulation and then wood and plastic interior. Will quit hijacking this thread and get back to work now and drool more tonight. Thanks again for the links and all that work on the drawings too!!!

On the outback tears site there is a info link on the grasshopper.
In the info it said they also made a 10ft toyhauler model where the back folded down to load 2 bikes in, does anyone have any pic's, drawings or measurements of one of thoose?
