Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hi all, Just thought i would put up the sketches of my Grasshopper/Mini Hopper kinda style of trailer, It will be painted in Urban Camo if i can figure out how to paint it..Please let me know what you think or any info you want

That's Very Nice!!!! Might need a rock guard for the front window...and how do you get to the beer on a rainy day ???

Here's my brain fart design ! I posted it for 1 reason.
Notice the hinge point extends back about a foot. I did this to avoid the headache factor. The box on this one is only 4' tall plus the 17"-18" for the trailer frame height puts the open hatch at 5'6" a real forehead buster if you don't learn to duck. By moving the hinge point forward I will gain 12"+/- when opened. You might check your height when open and you may want to concider this in your design.

Ye that is an important issue that Ill need to resolve, perhaps an emergency beer door that i can access from the inside

Thanks Bobhenry, The actual height of the door when lifted should be about 6' 5", being height of cab is 1200mm + sitting on trailer bed which should be about 800mm, allowing for leaf springs and offroad tyres 6'5" should be about right, but having said that yes i will keep it in mind..being a short arse myself I forget to allow for non vertically challenged people..

Just thought i would add a couple of interior shots I'm hoping to use

On your interior, make sure to provide extra height between the mattress and the bulkhead cabinets. You don't want to cramp your feet or crunch your toes every time you shift your sleeping position.

Wow that looks like the one in the driveway this morning.

The interior in mine is different and more spartan.



I like it. It is what my little trailer looks like that is four foot wide; the one you have pictured ( still working on the larger standy ) and yes it has only one door kinda.

Sounds and looks a lot like mine ,I like it Although I went for two doors.

Hey Steve, your camper actually inspired me to built this style and shape, I had been looking at the Mini Hopper style and liked it but when i saw yours on another forum I knew i found the right shape I was after.So cheers to you and I am still following your build with interest, I hope you don't mind me stealing some of your design and adding to mine.

It was dark when I built mine ( outside ). It was for MadJack LCGII but I did not get started on the trailer untill the weekend before LCGII and was busy working at night( un-assemble but all cutout to assemble at LCGII ). No pictures of construction but maybe if the weather will let me get out and take a pictures as it is now ( unpainted and temporary seam seals tape. I still have windows to install from a camper shell ( I need to go get ). The shell is removable from the trailer frame. The front window operable is to handmade at a later time.

Maybe this weekend get the tarp off and shoot some pictures.
The interior is completly un finished and using storage bins to put things in.

Greg did you try the insulated panel thing yet. Once you see the pictures of my smaller trailer it will be ovious how I did it. I have been working on some Sketch-up drawings of the process and connections of the panels that I used as building blocks because I did not take pictures during construction ( trial and error learning curve - six hours build time - from cutout to attach panels to framed openings ). Sorry about the thread HiJack guys.
