I need some ideas on putting a pop-up truck camper on a trailer without it lookin like a pop-up truck camper on a trailer.I can build a trailer to match the size of my old 4wheel pop-up,but I can't figure out how to enclose the front part,I did a seach an came up with nothing but I do remember seeing one someone did a few years ago that looked good.After building a td last year I got bit by the bug and need to build something else ,if I can't do this maybe I 'll just try to build a "grasshopper"

Try just framing out the bottom and box it in like this.



you could use the dead space for extra storage.

That looks pretty clean,but The overhang has me puzzeled,I saw someone boxed the front with diamond plate and without lookin real close you couldn't really tell it was a truck camper,but I can't find the post.

Quicksilver truck camper on a trailer frame.

Because the Fourwheel campers have squared corners, building a front storage / galley box under the bed overhang should be straight forward.

I really like that quicksilver,however that 4wheel is squared and would be ez to box in but I'm afraid it'll look to much like a squared box,that's the look I was trying to get away from. The quicksilver can go with that look because it opens out to the side.

if that's your truck topper in the first photo, there's an easy way to box in the lower portion so it doesn't just look boxed in -- but it will still look a little like "storage space".
You'll need to brace the cabover section to the trailer frame; I'd use a 2x6 box frame in the middle and another one set in about 8'' from each end. Make the 2x6 on the middle box stand about 1 - 1 1/2'' proud of the bottom of the cabover section; make the frames on the ends about 1- 1/2'' shorter than the cabover section. At the top and bottom of these, run a 1x3, with the wider face against the cabover and the trailer frame, to form top and bottom of two enclosures.
Put a piece of 3/8'' ply on each side of the middle box frame as a 'back' and 'brace' so it covers but does not completely extend past the open part of the box. This will create a pair of triangle-shaped "closets".
Then, on the frames at the sides, hinge (from the top, with piano hinges) a pair of gull-wing style doors, also made of 3/8'' ply. You can latch them at the lower corners, front and back (if you can latch 'em with Dzus fastners, they will look way cool) -- use some type of lockable hardware.
I'd paint it white and stripe it to match the camper, but that's just me. Be sure you use a good glossy house-enamel type paint.
If you want, you can mount shelves inside the "closets" on a cleat system.
Voila! Instant storage, and now it looks like it's built for the purpose.

An older thread I know but it would seem to be a rather versatile way to go to get a standie. If you were to mount a truck camper on a flat bed trailer, you could then slide it off for the utility of the trailer, slide it on for camping. The pricing on used truck campers seems to be pretty low for what you get.

I have had two redneck toy haulers. The first was a cap over on a flatbed bumperpull. I parked the quad under the cab over open space. My next one was on a gooseneck trailer like the one above and then we just put the toys on the rest of the trailer. Man we could haul some toys on that dude. I do not think there is any way to make it look like it is not a truck camper on a trailer unless you were to pull and reside the whole trailer to look like it is just a camp trailer. By then you could spend way to much on it IMHO.
