Building a plane TTT

No not a plain TTT, a plane TTT. As I mentioned in the welcome forum, I've lurked here off and on for many years. I need a small camper for weekend hunting trips; the tenting thing is getting a little old. Then I figured, if I'm going to build something, it should be unique and express me in the process.

So here I am at the very beginning of my build. I anticipate there will be several variations before I start, but here is the first version:

It will be built 5 wide on a TSC 4X8 trailer (or maybe a HF). The wings will serve as tables and cooking areas. The vertical stab should counterweight the hatch so no hatch support will be needed.

I hope to start making sawdust in a week or two.

Kendall, Your plane idea is great

I'd go all the way with it and taper the rear to a point

Now that's An idea that just might take off !

Do you think that the narrowing of the end section might be sacrificing space for looks.? IMO - it looked just fine with the straight sides

 Won't a counter weight be heavy too. You could always put a power center in the tail with solar on the surface. 8) ;)

Looks neat. I would be concerned about wind blowing the hatch close if just using the weight of the rudder to hold it open though.

Yes, I think the rounded back and front / rear tapers helps the design. You might also pull the door forward and have it follow the "windshield" line. Right now the door, fender clearance looks tight.

I think the 'horizontal stabilisers' would attract the attention of the police over here, for being a risk to pedestrians. Would US cops not see that as a problem?

I was thinking the same thing... drive that around over here and you'd be nicked in a heartbeat.

Could you not integrate the wings so that they double as mudguards for the wheels? Sort of the shape being there, but a dual purpose of covering the wheels and looking good at the same time.

Fantastic design though... it'll be a real headturner!

Yeah, those pesky lumps that run in the road and you have to swerve to avoid damaging your car... the government should really do something about it... road hazards are road hazards! :R

Ooooh, the elusive exercising American. I've heard that they exist, but I have never personally seen one.... Are you sure? It was more likely to have been a Sasquatch or Yeti...
