Finally posted pics in my album of a build I did on an old Jayco popup frame. It is 12 long and 6.5 wide. Been using for about 2 years, just returned from Tomoka State Park. Great times. Tows good behind a Durango. Plenty of room for 4 plus a lab dog. Have towed to NC a few times, SC and all over Fl. where we live. Bought a 4X8 trailer- may do a small one to tow behind my Jeep.

:applause:   Wow! Very nice. You really got a lot in there. I love the bunks. Would have been tempted to put windows in both but then it would get cold.

Cool  ...I also love the bunks. Tell us a bit about your outer finish what kind of primer/paint did you use and how has it been holding up after a couple of years?

Never thought about windows in bunks since we are in Florida, we use AC pretty much all year around. Like it chilly when sleeping.

Used latex based exterior primer and paint- from HD. Have re painted a little over a year later due to brutal sun in Florida and it sits uncovered. The exterior ply on the side that faces sun dried out too much like a deck board would do. Areas not directly in sun all the time look the same as when they were built with no cracks or problems. Plan if I keep is to either glass and paint or build small outbuilding to park it under, keeping sun off it. If wasnt for the Florida sun- just primer and paint would be sufficient. Could leave as is and paint every year or so- cheap way I guess.

"If I keep"- already thinking about next one and what could be better.

Hope so! Still cant decide on which one to do first, a 4X8 or the 5X14? I need to post the concept for the 14' one on here.

KTNC30,

I saw a factory-made cargo trailer the other day sitting in a field by a farmhouse. It had two RV windows on the left side. It was 5 wide by 12 or 14 long. I thought that was wild. Can't wait to see your design.
