Has anyone seen one of these?

Has anyone seen any of the small travel trailers made by Taylor Coach? They have a very interesting 8 ft model under 800 lb. For those of us who are a little older and need to stand up in our trailer this might be a neat idea for a build.

I hadn't seen them before, but they're kinda neat little rigs. I agree, there are some good ideas in those.

Hmmm.....Kinda nice!

5'/8' Lil El :
no brakes,
Dry Gross Weight (pounds) = 700
GVWR (pounds) = 1430

7'/10' Dyl :
Has brakes,
Dry Gross Weight (pounds) = 850
GVWR (pounds) = 1672

....Wonder what the prices are....

This is from their specifications page. This is strange because the GVWR weights don’t agree:

SPECIFICATIONS FOR 8'
Length = 8'6"
Interior Height = 6'
Exterior Height = 7'11"
GVWR (lbs) = 2000
Dry Gross Weight(lbs) = 700

SPECIFICATIONS FOR 10'
Length = 10'6"
Interior Height = 6'4"
Exterior Height = 8'4"
GVWR (lbs) = 2500
Dry Gross Weight(lbs) = 850

I'm guessing the other page is listing the weight for a stripped model.

If the weights they list are correct (on either spec list), does it mean they probably used aluminum for their trailer and camper frame or would it be possible to frame these things with wood and still get the low weights? :thinking: :thinking:

My Puck is 9ft and under 800lbs. It's aluminum clad with fiberglass roof and popup. The popup allows plenty of headroom in the "standing area".

I think this popup idea, identical to my VWs, is the way to go for a standie. Not sure if you could find one in a junkyard.

rebapuck,

Post photos and/or create and album so we can see what you are talking about and what you've got.

Thanks in advance,

Prem :(

Saw one at the last trailer show in the Toronto area. Still a bit pricey. The 8' had a rear entry and had good headroom. I think saying the 8' will sleep 4 is pushing it. And at 7' 11" it's a tough squeeze in my garage.

Oh, I can see the conversations at rest stops...

"hey, what the hell happened to the rest of your trailer?"
"what's it gonna be when it grows up?"

:lol:

GVWR is the maximum the trailer can weigh loaded. I would guess dry gross weight is the weight of the empty trailer. When you equip for a trip the weeight goes up according to what you equip with
