Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I am planning on building a chuckwagon with storage for when we go camping. My family tent camps. I would love to build a TD but we need more room. I saw a thread where someone posted a photo of something like what I am wanting to build. It will basically be two boxes. The front box is for all our gear. The rear box is the chuckwagon. I am planning on building it on my utility trailer. It is 5 x 8. If anyone has seen something like this let me know. Here is a google sketchup of what I am thinking.

That is nice but I am thinking the kids can tent and a Td will be just as big, just as easy and carry lots of stuff.......

Don't tempt me.

That's looking great!! I like your thinking. Will the weight of your gear,keep the trailer from being too heavy on the back?

banditracer. I am planning to build a box for the front of the trailer that will carry all my gear. It should balance out the trailer 60/40. My tent alone weighs 80lbs. I put the first coat of primer on it tonight and put down some vinyl floor tiles. I am still trying to decide what color to paint it. I am also trying to decide whether to build cabinets in the lid for storage.

Looks like a perfect spot for the entertainment center! But seriously folks, I wouldn't want that lid to heavy.It already looks quite Hefty

It tugged at me also. Maybe a set of shallow lift off cabinets like a spice cabinet. would look great once set up just hook them on and you have a great place for spices, flatware ,utinsels, first aid kit, matches and the dozens of other tiny items we always need.
I put the flour sugar coffee and other needed dry goods in small bottles and store in mine

Maybe you can work in a self leveling shelf. (think of a ferris wheel)

Finished enough for a test run camping this weekend. I like the entertainment center idea. I will put some cabinets in the lid. The fridge will have to go. I would love to have hot water. I will say it was the hit of our camping trip. I lost count of how many people came by and asked about it. Here are a few pics. The lid is made out of 3/4 and 1/4 ply. It is actually not too heavy.

Looks like you could be ready to go on a moments notice with everything at hand. I see lots of gawkers in your future

I do plan on leaving it packed other than perishable foods. One of my main reasons for building it is so we can just hook up and go. Now I have to find a cooler that will fit where the Fridge was. I like the steel belted ones but not the price.

You say the fridge will have to go why?
does it not work like it is suppost to?
I don't like ice coolers I was able to purchase a 12 volt one that works very well for us I can pulg it into the truck or run it on 120.
very nice design and looks to be very usefull.
I saw another post somewhere they had one simlar to yours but boxes were above the rails of the trailer and they stowed gear under the boxs
