IMHO you get much more bang for the buck with a roof top tent like pictured below. Even better when it's mounted on a simple box trailer Compact Camping Concepts that will store and organize all of your camping gear.

RTT's are very simple to set up too. Just drop down and it pops up. In contrast, the remote control gadget on that 6K+ unit seems unnecessary and adds the threat of a mechanical failure sooner or later.

It's easy to criticize but for 6 thousand dollars, I'd have to say.....

I don't disagree one bit I would never spend even half that on one, but the mechanic/designer in me digs it. Also be pretty bad to pick up chicks with

That is an interesting trailer. According to their web site it is being built just up the road from me.

I'll bet you don't just press a button to fold it up.

Like to see that video.

Hmm... good point. And on that premise, perhaps a second review should be done.

The Scarab's inflatable tent is an interesting new feature since I orginally saw them.

As Scott mentioned, an Explorer Box is a much more cost effective approach.

Although I might be a little bias :D

That takes car-camping to a whole other level! Nice!

Thanks ... Although I'd refer to an Explorer Box (or Teardrop of that matter) as trailer-supported camping :D

My Tent Topped Sidekick is what I'd refer to as car-camping

In the Boy Scouts, we call any camping that you just drive to (no hiking or packing) car camping  So, pulling up to the camp with you ‘box’ would still qualify, and was WAY more deluxe than we ever saw – I’m thinking that would be a nice addition to any cub or tenderfoot group.

At the end of the day, I guess it's really not that important what you call it, as long as you get out and enjoy some Camping :D
