We just finished our non-traditional trailer and wanted to show her off from her maiden voyage to Okmulgee State Park in Oklahoma this weekend. Please feel free to comment on our little trailer good or bad and we'll be more than happy to reply back.

Softsided and being Tent Topped is a great way to go, some people don't get it, here is what I tell them.

Yep, it is an Oz Tent. I wanted something simple and quick and the Oz Tent fit the bill so I used U-bolts to secure it down to the deck through the tent stake loops.

Do they use a urethane coated or breathable fabric in it?
How long does it take to setup?

It's a bit on the pricey side (but most of the roof top tents are), but it's worth every penny. The fabric is a breathable heavy canvas with a very thick tarp type material for the floor and up the sides a bit. It's very roomy for two with lots of extra features you just don't get on the tents over here. This tent should last me 15 to 20 years with proper care.

Setting it up from the package on the ground it takes approximately 30 seconds to be completely setup. From the way I have it mounted it takes longer to remove the tarp than to set it up. I just unzip the entry and pull on the center rope and it's done. I normally setup an ez-up canopy in front for shade and rain protection so the entire setup (tent & canopy) with chairs takes about 5 minutes and that's taking it easy.

Your trailer looks very similar to mine! I was thinking of doing the same thing as I think the RTT type off road trailers are just toooo much $$$$$

Then, I was at Bass Pro and saw a Sportz Tent III for a pickup truck. Since I have a truck I bought it, but now I'm thinking of building a "bed" in my trailer and using the Sportz Tent on that. Who knows what I'll do....but I like your set up!

I have a friend that did the same thing you are doing in that he took the truck tent and mounted it on his small trailer. It put the tent down lower which made it easier to get in and out of. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
