Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I was thinking how cool it would be to do a trailer as an amish buggy

so I tried to find info on them but with no sutch luck :thumbdown:

but then I thought someone on here must surely know what the dimensions are or in the very least know where to look :thumbsup:

then I could get to the designing part of it I have a few ideas already but if I can get the dimensions then I can proceed :worship:

Another thing you might do is call Lil' Guy as I think they use Amish workers. They could probably put you in touch with an Amish gentleman who would most certainly render a kind reply to you.

The last that I knew, the Amish did not use electricity in their homes but might use it in their barns. I doubt that they use the Internet and may not even use telephones...don't know. You may have to get a name and address and write a letter to someone to get what you want.

sent 3 emails today about the buggys so who knows but if anyone here knows please speak up I only need to know a few things length height width and what material they're made of

Pleasant Valley Trailer Sales. They have phones & a website & everything. They built our teardrop and would probably be amused as well as helpful in providing buggy dimensions. Please tell them we still love our 2006 5x8!!

I want to use the biggest and fatest bicycle rims and tires that I can find as I would like to put 2/3 solar panels on the roof and have a hub dynamo on the tires as well in the lower part of the buggy I 'm thinking that could be battery storage it will have four wheels but instead of being pulled by a horse I 'm thinking of using a dog or two as I 'm in the process of getting a mastiff and they can get around 250 pounds Oh I guess I should mention I want to do this for pioneer days as well as all the paraded that we have here I read somewhere that to buy a new one isn't that expensive so to build one should be cheaper my only cost will be any accessories other then the metal for the under carriage and getting the welding done so planned expense is about 500 and who knows I can make that back with the prizes to be won

thanks tinksdad I 've googled so much lately as well as all the documentaries I could see just for some sort of insight in to these plus it would be fun to give rides to the kids, just have a donation box

so two out of four emails says

COMPLETE WHEELBASE IS 116 LONG BY 64 INCHES WIDE AND BUGGY IS 69 INCHES LONG BY 41 WIDE BUGGY IS MADE OF WOOD AND FIBREGLASS REAR WHEELS HAVE DRUM BRAKES..

The dimensions are 10 feet long 6 ft. wide & 81 inches High.The Buggy made of steel products, fiberglass & Wood.
now which is it?

I was talking to a friend of mine about pioneer days and this trailer idea came up so I told her all about it and her reply was your not building a trailer your building a tow vehicle so then I was told that I needed to design a trailer that could get towed behind the buggy........ so now I need more ideas...... the crazier the better

so I emailed www.golittleguy.com they told me to call but don't answer the phone I 'm thinking it's an amish thing......... still no ideas for a trailer behind a buggy I'm thinking a vardo maybe still not sure some other ideas I could use and a name this things going to need a name I'm open to suggestions on that too

oh yeah step 1 done

just talked to a very nice gentleman who is getting me all the dimensions and more........ I'm so excited

now my gathering of supplies has a reason for being :thumbsup:

and it's not junk thats gathering in my living room :lol:

next step design the frame and modify it ever so slightly I have an old towbar kit that was never used for my old ford tempo noe if I can incorporate that into my buggy frame for more things to come :twisted:

that solves two problems finding a use for junk and adding a towing hitch to my buggy

so no name as of yet but thats ok I'm still waiting for my email from the Amish trailer builder but when it comes I'll share the info as I've looked all over the internet to find it but it just doesn't want to be found so by posting it maybe it'll attract some new forum members but anyways back to the name for a build........ any suggestions ......please
