That is a great idea! I like how it will tow with a small frontal area. My 4x8 has difficult wind drag at freeway speeds that alternative folding designs like this address. Recently, I have described a similar fold down concept in the design section.

I want to try to place the project on Indiegogo, is it worth a try?

That is quite the interesting concept, and I agree with Tom about the frontal, and overall wind drag of the package.
I do have a question or two, though.
Is the "clam shell" a hard side or soft side enclosure?
Will there be weather seals between each segment?
Is it intended to be manual or power driven opening and closing?

I haven't as clue as to what "Indiegogo" is, so can't offer an opinion on whether it would be worth your time.

The body of the segments can be either hard or soft
Seals between segments will be
Opening will be both manual and mechanical

Boy, if those segments could be molded out of HDPE, that would be a rather light weight assembly, and quite weather proof, too.

Segments can be made from HDPE, but not entirely, but from 3 parts. You still need a hard frame. HDPE has too much thermal expansion, it is easier to use aluminum composite panels.

How would you seal the edges of the folding sections when open?

Sketch without insulation, inner lining and sealing gaskets.

I think somebody did something like that on here a few years back. He was actually a manufacturer and was promoting the build. I will see if I can find it

That's a nice design. I assume the outside of that wall is the far side in that view. The panels look like they would seal nicely when open if you can keep them flat and well aligned. Have you worked out similar details of how the matching roof panels fit when open?
