Its bad when ya got too much time on your hands at work,,actually lunch time,,had a brain tumor,,has anyone ever toyed with a 8 to 10 ft unit that is a 5th wheel configuration,,the frame follows the traditional teardrop shape across the top and the whole capsule is basically under slung off the frame,,I think it would take some tricky metal work and some serious engineering to put such an animal together,,????how bout it you CAD freeks,,,I want to see a vision,,,,,just a mental speedbump I thought I would run past ya'll

Sumner, on teardroptimes was thinking about something similar to that. But he got married, and I imagine he has other things to occupy him now.

A 5th wheel teardrop is a real project. Much more than I would want to do. Before I build a 5th wheel teardrop, I'll breakdown and buy something. Maybe a T@B2.

But right now I hope my teardrop lasts me for a long long time!

Chip, Glad to hear you're making progress. The idea of af 5th wheel teardrop has run through my mind also. It makes me think about the Scamp 19' http://www.scamptrailers.com/index.cfm?PageID=27
But its not a tiny travel trailer. Hope I haven't gone way off topic.

they say a mind is a terrible thing to waste,,,looked at a 5th wheel large unit this weekend and had the thought,,,just now able to put in a post,,it would definately be unique,,,and with T-droppers being a bit unique I figured it wouldnt take long for one to be put on paper, if not built,,I appreciate the responce

I will say the fiberglass T@B2 looks a lot better than the aluminum T@B. I wonder if they ever fixed the delamination problems I heard they were having. For a while there T@Bs were being offered all over the place on eBay, apparently in an effort to unload them...

Here is a gooseneck idea that one company did simple could attach it to regular hitch bar.

copy and paste I find when I put in a site and it will not fit it only sees the first line as the site.

That scamp 13' is interesting. It looks like you can get it with an optional toilet. I wonder how big that would have to be.
I am planning a 5x10 trailer, but if I pushed the front of the trailer out over the front, say a 3x3 room, I think that would make a perfect 'water closet'.
I was considering leaving the back of the trailer curved for that nice traditional look, but having a flat front wall to maximize space.
Maybe I could even push the front out by one foot and have it three feet wide. Then I could build a room around the front, and have a small coset on either side. I will go do a sketch now and post it to explain what I mean.

What do you guys think?

OK, here is that quickie sketch. Just a concept on how to maximize the space in a 5x10 and still have a bathroom.
The toilet would be an electric flush/chemical toilet like one from Coleman.
There is still space there for a queen size mattress.
The door to the bathroom could be a pair of sliders so you would not need to move the mattress to open it. You could even use one of those accordian type folding doors. Same with the mini closets in the front.
Tell me what you think!

Show me where the pillows are...

How close is you head to the bathroom when your partner uses it in the middle of the night?

i would think that if it's in the same trailer, it's too close....

That's the point I was trying to make. I would think that you could make a separate restroom, with it's own door, something like this...

That could work too. That is why I love throwing out these ideas, to see who can improve on them!

I like mikeschns idea alittle better. Even though you have to go outside to go in it it is alot better than walking half a mile to get to the camp bathroom!

Hey, look at Nick's picture of the boat trailer... see the front door on it? That must be the bathroom. What do you think?
