Hi Doug: I will tell you that the trailer is looking good, but you and all of us already know this. I enjoy your masterpieces as they come together. I will be watching closely to this one. I am planning a standy for my next one. Now I have a plan to build mine.
I will just see how you do it and it should be easy to follow with your expertise.

Nice progress.

Is the space under the cabinets just lost, or do you have plans for this? I guess in a standy you can afford to loose a little volume, so no big deal either way. Just wondering.

Doug
Looks great . How does your step attach to the wood perimeter? Is there metal support there I don't see? I started another Whetzeldorf today and the donor pop up did not have a step included so I will have to pick one up. You always inspire me for ideas, as I am a thief!

Dan...the step has 4 bolts welded to the angle iron outriggers. I have taken it off right now, in fact, soon, the entire axle and suspension will be removed and the whole thing put on casters so that I can move it in and out of the garage. I'm going to leave it in until I get 1 wall at least made and positioned so I can check it out. Once the walls go up, it won't fit as is. KC...the only lost space is under the galley cabinet because of the toe kick. There will be tons of storage in this trailer so I'm not too worried about that spot. Besides, it's a ton of work to build it out so that it is usable with a cooler on a slider fit in. Doug

Putting the whole mess on casters so you can move it around easier is a really great Idea. Good work Doug.

I was unable to do any work on the trailer last weekend due to a major storm....too much stuff dropping from trees to pull the Nomad out and I was out of power. It was a Coleman weekend....had 4 going in the shop as I tried to work,...but needed the table saw.

I mounted the tires and balanced them...thanks to my nephews equipment...so I saved some dough there, counter tops are laminated and edge trimmed, galley and cabinets primed/painted, trimmed in aluminum, and cut the flooring and installed it . I also got the necessary supports in for the drawer slides and finished up the magazine rack/compartment under the little cabinet with the 2 drawers. It's not quite done yet...gets some contrasting strips across the bottom and I'm waiting for the aluminum cove material for around the floor and the back splash on the counter. The color on the flooring doesn't show all that well, but Marmoleum is some awesome stuff, It's really thick material so cuts and scrapes from rocks brought in on your shoes don't tear it up like a vinyl might. Thanks to a fellow forum member for saving me some dough on that one! It definitely has the vintage look to it. I also tore into the front window to do some repair work on the crank out....it doesn't want to come apart.

I'm shooting for June 6 for it's "maiden voyage" as there is a vintage trailer thing up near Lake Tahoe at Fallen Leaf Lake. I may have located a spot for the Nomad through the winter so that will ease up some space...thing is...that shed has rodent issues....Doug

As camping should be! I don't care for the really dark interior trailers, like this donor trailer was. I'm sure it's not everyones cup of tea...but once I get all the interior done....it'll be a fun trailer, and that's how they should be in my opinion. Working on finding the appropriate color of melmac dishes for it.... Doug

Hey Doug.

I just found this thread, Looking good there. I might just start cutting metal for my #2 this week. But I would not bet on it. I have been saying that for about a year. I keep running out of ambition and money. I will be building something like a tear drop but a little different. I need to find your Nomad door build as I like the idea of a screen door. I am looking for something that I can go for about a month in most any weather which mean will be setting inside during not so great weather.
